Christianity in the main political parties in the United States (the “U.S.”) is virtually absent nowadays. A look at these parties is warranted for Christians who want to be sure they are voting for parties and candidates that are at least pro-Christian.
POLITICAL PARTIES IN THE U.S.
There are generally two main political parties in the U.S., the Democrats and the Republicans. The Democratic Party is composed of generally liberal Americans and broadly interprets the U.S. Constitution and statutes. The Republican Party is composed of generally conservative Americans who view U.S. law narrowly.
Today, the Democratic Party has two main ideologies, forcing Democrats to choose between them. One ideology is the historical belief of liberal Americans, and their economic leanings are generally capitalist. The other ideology is that of the Democratic Socialists of America (the “DSA”) and is Marxist in its economic and social stance.
Marxism, the ideology, is related to Socialism and Communism in the following way. The ideology is Marxism, the group that attains power is through political means are the Socialists, and the Communists gain power by violent means.
One thing Marxists agree on is that they hate religion. Neither ideology supports religious freedom, or Christianity in particular.
However, many Democrats have not chosen between the two ideologies but continue to identify as Democrats and try to support candidates from both. But they will eventually have to choose, because the two ideologies cannot coexist.
As noted earlier, the Republican Party views the laws of the United States narrowly, and its economic theories are capitalist in nature. This party is amenable to religious freedom, and many, if not most, Republicans consider themselves Christian, though many Christians are not genuine.
DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS OF AMERICA
The DSA is a public organization that has over 120,000 members in America. The Democratic Party has allowed this organization to remain part of the party, and it has won several Democratic primaries in 2026. The DSA has caused an upheaval in the Democratic Party. The DSA’s co-chair, Megan Romer, confirmed on Fox that they want to:
- Abolish the Senate;
- Abolish the Presidency;
- Abolish the Supreme Court;
- Abolish ICE;
- Abolish all borders;
- Abolish prisons, long-term;
- Give amnesty to all illegal aliens, long-term;
- Defund the Pentagon;
- Change large corporations to public ownership.
DSA members and many others in the Democratic Party hate America and religion and look for something totally different in its place. Everything they do and believe reflects that, as you can learn from the list above.
As written earlier in this article, the DSA is a Marxist organization. The list above affirms this. As such, this organization wants to eliminate all religions. It is a radical organization that seeks to change the U.S. fundamentally. The Communist Manifesto, written by Marx and Engels, is the basic work of Marxists.” In Marx’s book, the same Marx who created Marxism, “Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right,” written before the Manifesto, he wrote that religion: “is the opium of the people.” Marx hated religion and was an atheist himself.
A Christian should not vote for any DSA candidate, no matter whether they are called a Democrat or what they are labeled. The candidates mentioned share the goal of eliminating the worship of any god.
DEMOCRATIC PARTY
The other ideology of the Democratic Party that is not DSA consists of traditional liberal Americans, who generally support the economic system of capitalism.
Many of these Democrats don’t know what to do with the DSA. They are in a quandary. It apparently is the goal of the Democratic Party to beat Donald Trump at all costs. So they have let the DSA come into their party with the idea that it doesn’t matter what they believe as long as they help defeat Donald Trump. The ideology that the Democratic Party has allowed in will take over their party and make it a DSA party. This is a mistake!
If the Democratic Party wants to remain, it must eject the DSA. Letting the DSA stay will cause the party to be taken over by the DSA and its members. Consequently, there will be no place for traditional Democrats to go.
Nevertheless, a Christian cannot vote Democratic since the party ejected God from its platform in 2012. There may be a Christian in the Democratic Party, but because their party does not believe in God, a Christian, in good conscience, cannot vote for that person.
REPUBLICAN PARTY
The Republican Party, on the other hand, is a pro-constitutional party. It is for religious liberty, and many, if not most, of the Republican Party members claim to be Christians, though many are not. The economic system advanced by the Republican Party is capitalism.
A Christian can vote for a Republican candidate, but they must at least claim to be a Christian.
CONCLUSION
It’s clear that the Democratic Party, no matter whether the person is a traditional Democrat or a DSA Democrat, does not recognize God in its platforms. The Republican Party, however, does recognize the U.S. Constitution and the freedom of religion, and many are members of the Christian Church.
It is okay for a Christian to vote for a Republican candidate, provided the candidate is not an atheist. Also, candidates running under lesser-known political parties may be okay, too.
Nevertheless, because the DSA and the Democratic Party are against God, they are not okay for Christians to vote for.
